New mathematical model for the Morton Effect based on the THD analysis
The paper describes a detailed model to calculate the hot spot in a bearing. The stability of the hot spot for turboexpander is calculated with this model. The paper was presented at the 9. International Conference on Rotordynamics in Milan in 2014 organised by IFTOMM. It was awarded with the price for outstanding papers. (377.02 KB)

Hot Spots in Turboexpander Bearings: Case History, Stability Analysis, Measurements and Operational Experience
This paper from the year 2008 describes the case history of a vibration problem caused by a hot spot in a bearing (Morton Effect). Stability analyses and measurements for different variants to remedy the problem are show. (823.16 KB)

Spiral Vibrations of a Generator due to Slip Rings
This paper decribes the hot spot effect (also known as Newkirk effect) in a generator rotor caused by the slip rings. It was presented at the 7. International Conference on Rotor Dynamics in 2006 in Vienna organised by the IFTOMM. (831.73 KB)
