In some designs the dynamics of a complex structure such as a rotor-casing considerably influences the dynamic behaviour of the rotor. The dynamic behaviour of the casing then can be considered in rotordynamic models by transfer functions or state space matrices gained from a 3D finite element analysis of the structure. Alternatively, measured transfer functions can be used.
